• Require more vigorous government negotiation to lower drug prices

  • Increase market competition

  • Encourage imported and generic medications to increase consumer choice

As part of health care reforms, we must also lower prescription drug costs and reduce out-of-pocket expenses for families. Our citizens pay too much for our medications and many average Americans struggle to afford them. I will fight for more vigorous negotiations between pharmaceutical companies and the government to lower prices and ensure that the medicines Americans need are both available and affordable. Finally, we must encourage greater market competition by allowing imported prescription drugs, such as from Canada, and making generic medication more widely available to consumers. Reducing out-of-pocket costs for prescription medications will preserve more of Hoosiers’ earnings and strengthen the financial well-being of families.
