Joshi for Congress Receives “Gun Sense Candidate Distinction” from Moms Demand Action

Yatish Joshi, congressional candidate for Indiana’s 2nd District, was given the  Moms Demand Action  “Gun Sense Candidate Distinction” for his strong gun reform platform.

Statement from Yatish Joshi:

I do not want to see another mass shooting in my lifetime. We can stop the madness of gun violence by (1) Permanently banning assault rifles, similar high-velocity weapons, and accessories. These are weapons of war and belong on the battlefield in the hands of soldiers as they are intended to inflict the greatest amount of injury in the shortest amount of time.  (2) Very vigorous and comprehensive background checks to make sure that guns are not available to those with histories of domestic violence, felony convictions, and serious mental illness. (3) People who are in charge of enforcing these laws should be held liable and not be given immunity from the government. (4) Each gun owner should carry liability insurance just as owners of cars, dogs, and boats must take responsibility. I will fight for these common-sense policies to keep communities and America safe, so that people can live their lives without fear of violence.

Yatish Joshi is honored to received the “Gun Sense Candidate Distinction” from Moms Demand Action. He marched today with the John Adams Social Action for Student Safety student walkout and is a proud supporter of the parents and students demanding commonsense gun reform for school and community safety. Yatish has pledged to remain committed to taking these concerns to Washington D.C. as a representative of Indiana’s 2nd District.

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America is a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for new and stronger solutions to lax gun laws and loopholes. Since its inception after the tragedy at Sandy Hook School, Moms Demand Action has established a chapter in every state of the country and, along with Mayors Against Illegal Guns and the Every town Survivor Network, is part of Every town for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in the country with more than four million supporters.
